Visit the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the Middle East. Visit the Bait Zubair Museum, exhibiting the wealth of Oman’s Cultural history and traditions. Later drive along the picturesque Corniche to the once walled district of Old Muscat. There will be photo stops at the residence of his Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Al Alam Palace, which is flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts Mirani and Jalali. Stroll through Muttrah Souq, for handicrafts and silver items.

Note: To enter Grand Mosque, dress code is applicable. Ladies should be fully covered with scarf and wear full sleeves shirt and Men are not allowed to wear shorts.

1500 hrs. Transfer from hotel to marina Bandar for Sunset Cruise on board Traditional Dhow. Handmade wooden dhows still made today by local craftsmen bear testament to Oman’s tradition as a great seafaring nation. They used to plough the sea routes between Oman, Iran, the Arab Emirates, India and other neighboring countries laden with exotic goods and merchandise. Sinbad the Sailor sailed in them from the coastal town of Sur where they are still being built today. Your unique experience of cruising along Oman’s coastline starts at the Marina where you step aboard a dhow. Seated on the upper open-air deck enjoy wonderful views and the Sunset while sipping refreshments and sampling Arab dates served on board.

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel. Today you begin the fascinating round tour of Oman in 4×4 jeep. Drive towards the city of Barkha with first stop at Barkha Fish Market. Watch the fishermen bring in their early morning catch to the shores. The new fish market is more spacious and has stalls for fish and vegetables .

Later continue driving to Wadi Bani Awf, one of the Arabia’s great 4WD adventures that includes a visit to the village of Bilad Sayt, a remote fortress village in the heart of the mountain range. Continue to Jebel Akhdar. Arrive and check-in at hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Jebel Akhdar.

After breakfast visit Jebel Akhdar (green mountains in Arabic), famous for gardens, farms and terrace plantations. Follow your guide as they take you through the terrace gardens to view this intriguing location. The villages of Saiq and Al Ain dot the landscape overlooking a spectacular landscape of dramatic peaks, gorges and wadis. The roses of Jabal Al Akhdar fill the air with fragrance when in full bloom (March / April). Rose water is distilled in the homes of the villagers.

Later drive to Nizwa and visit Nizwa souq, explore the souq. The impressive New Souq complex has been sensitively designed using Omani fort architecture and elegant Islamic arches. The air-conditioned halls of this souq are full of fresh fruit and vegetables, herbs and spices, huge stacks of dates and freshly caught fish. This is still the best place to buy traditional silver “Khanjars” (hand- carved Omani daggers) and Bedouin jewellery, where silver is still sold by weight.

Then you visit Nizwa Fort with its massive Circular Cannon Tower, making it one of the most impressive forts in Oman. Built on a solid base of rock, the huge tower was designed to withstand the vibrations of 24 cannons. From the top, a superb panoramic view gives visitors a bird’s eye view all around Nizwa and the surrounding plains – a sure delight for all avid photographers!

Return to Jebel Akhdar.  Overnight at the hotel in Jebel Akhdar.             

After breakfast check out and drive to Wadi Bani Khalid – an oasis spot in the middle of barren and dry mountains. It is one of the most beautiful wadis in Oman and its pools with clear deep blue water give you an opportunity to take a refreshing dip. 

(Please note it is aprox 500 meter walk from the parking area to the pool). 

As per the recent guidelines from Ministry of Tourism, ladies who wish to swim in the wadi have to wear shorts and t-shirt to cover their body. Swimming in bikinis is not permitted. This is to respect the local culture of the villagers.

We then head into the Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand. The ever-changing patterns of the dunes are a photographer’s delight. Visit a Bedouin house – anybody who chooses to live in the environment of Wahiba Sands must be hardy and resilient to tolerate its potentially harsh climate, and bedu are just that. There are over 3000 Bedu of varying tribal origins who live here amongst the woodland on the fringes of the sands. Drive to your camp. Arrive and check in at your Camp.

Morning at leisure. Enjoy activities at Camp, like Quad biking, Camel riding (optional).

Later check out from the camp and drive to Muscat via coast. Visit fishing town of Sur, the eastern most town on the Arabian Peninsula, where until recently the famous Omani Dhows were built. Dhow building in Sur dates back centuries and is closely linked with the maritime heritage of Oman. From Sur too, in the old days, the Omanis were sailing the seas, mainly to India. 

Visit the dhow factory, where you observe skilled craftsmen building traditional dhows (fishing boats) and see the boats anchored in the harbor.

Drive to Wadi Tiwi, another spectacularly deep and narrow gorge carved out of the mountains, running between towering cliffs right down to the sea. It compensates with its old traditional villages, surrounded by lush plantations of dates and banana, and crisscrossed with a network of gurgling aflaj.

After around 5km you’ll reach the picturesque village of Harat Bidah, where the road narrows dramatically, squeezing its way between old houses and high stone walls. Stop here to capture some stunning pictures of the Wadi. 

After visit, drive to Bimmah sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with inviting cool blue green waters. Created by erosion, or perhaps even a meteorite, this sinkhole is thought to be one of the most beautiful sinkholes on the planet. This natural landmark is surely a place to see.

Continue to Muscat and check in to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Muscat.

Check out from the hotel and transfer to Muscat International Airport to board your flight back home.
