Valley of the Kings, situated on the ancient site of Thebes, a treasure trove of archaeological wonders, where most of the tombs of the Egypt’s New Kingdom rulers are located. The most famous tomb is that of King Tutankhamun, discovered in pristine condition by British archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922.
Hatshepsut Temple: The mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, designed by Senenmut (Hatshepsut’s steward and architect), closely resembles the classical Greek architecture of 1,000 years later. The temple consists of several colonnaded terraces, some 97 feet tall and most of its statues were destroyed by rulers who wanted to erase Hatshepsut’s rule.
Colossi of Memnon: These two gigantic figures of Amenhotep III were originally situated in front of his Mortuary temple which was destroyed for unknown reasons.
Karnak temple: One of the world’s most celebrated temple complexes comprising a vast mix of decayed temples, chapels and pylons built over a period of 1500 years, the temple is dedicated to God Amon, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu. At the entrance you will find a ram-headed avenue of Sphinxes, which was built to protect the Temple. Direct transfer to station for sleeper Train Luxor to Cairo. Dinner and overnight on board.
