After breakfast, leave for Sigiriya. Climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress (Optional extra) which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70-hectare fortified town. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. Lunch at a restaurant. Dinner and overnight stay in Sigiriya. 

After breakfast, proceed to Kandy via Dambulla. Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple. Climb up to the temple, which was donated by King Walagambahu in the 1st century BC to Buddhist monks. Dambulla is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. Visit a spice garden in Matale to see the different spices, which Sri Lanka is famous for. Kandy city tour – the last capital of the Sri Lankan Kings, also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Drive around the Kandy Lake built by the last Sinhala King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. In the evening, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and thereafter witness a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing. Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy. 

After breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya via Peradeniya. Visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala King and later expanded by the British. Visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, where the best tea in the world is produced. Nuwara Eliya, because of its invigorating mountain climate and scenery, is Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort. It is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country producing a significant share of the world’s best tea. Sri Lanka’s highest mountain Pidurutalagala (8282 feet) is located here. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

Proceed to the beach via Kitulgala with lunch en route. Kitulgala was the location where the famous film ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’ was filmed. Enroute see the waterfalls St. Clare’s and Devon. Dinner and overnight stay at a Beach Resort.

At leisure at the beach on full board basis.

After breakfast, proceed to Colombo and a city tour. Places of interest are Pettah bazaar and the Old Parliament in Fort. Lunch at a Restaurant. Explore shopping at the Ceramics Corporation showrooms, Majestic City Shopping complex and ODEL Unlimited Dress Boutique. Dinner at a restaurant and overnight in Colombo.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the return flight.
