The castle capital of the world located in the centre of Europe, the Czech Republic is a historic jewel and truly the heart of Europe. Combining majestic castles to medieval towns, bustling and charming city life, quiet countryside full of picturesque landscapes, elegant spa resorts to scenic national parks, the small country leaves a big impression.
Known as the “city of a thousand spires” and home to Prague Castle – the largest castle complex in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site, the capital Prague is a visual and cultural feast with an eclectic mix of Renaissance, Gothic, Baroque, and Art Nouveau style. Medieval bridges, cobbled lanes, Gothic churches to bustling markets, old breweries, fine dining and lively jazz clubs, there is never a dull moment. Visit Charles Bridge, explore the Old Town Square and the Jewish quarter but don’t forget the nearby attractions like Sedlec Ossuary, the church made of human bones in Kutná Hora; the giant gothic castle of Karlštejn; the fairytale town of Český Krumlov; hot springs of Karlovy Vary; and the city of Plzeň, where pilsner beer was born.
The Czech Republic is a year-round destination with seasonal climate and four distinct seasons. The months of May to September have the best weather. Days are warm and nights are cool, but summer also sees the highest rainfall across the country. The shoulder season months of September and October are likely to be drier but still hot and may be preferable.
